No Internet or Unknown Internet

Your Digital Photo Frame has connected to Wi-Fi but can't reach the internet. This is almost always caused by an incompatible network setting rather than a fault with the frame. Work through the three steps below in order — most people are back online by the end of Step 3.

Step 1: Reboot your network and your frame

A restart clears out stale connection data, and it's the quickest fix for most "No Internet" or "Unknown Internet" errors.

  1. Turn off everything — your modem, router, and any access points — as well as the frame itself.
  2. Wait 10 minutes.
  3. Turn them all back on.

Step 2: Make sure your network uses IPv4/DHCPv4

The frame only works with a local IPv4 address. It cannot use a local IPv6 address.

If you're not sure what your network is using, or if the frame isn't picking up a local IPv4 address, ask someone tech-savvy or contact your internet provider. They can check whether local IPv4 addresses are enabled and turn them on if needed.

Step 3: Make sure your frame is on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network

The frame only works on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. It is not compatible with 5 GHz.

Some routers combine 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz into a single network — this is often called band steering, smart connect, or SON. That can cause problems for the frame. If your router does this, create a separate network name (SSID) for your 2.4 GHz band and connect the frame to that one.
