How to Move Your Lamp to a New Wi-Fi Network
Changed your Wi-Fi network, switched routers, or updated your password? Your Friendship Lamp needs to be pointed at the new network. The important part: do not delete the lamp from the app to do this. Put it back into setup mode instead, and run through setup again.
Do not delete the lamp from the app
It is the obvious thing to try, and it causes a much bigger problem. Removing your lamp from its last remaining group factory-resets it, which clears its settings and can leave it much harder to recover. You do not need to remove anything to change networks.
What to do instead
- Put the lamp back into setup mode. It is ready when it glows dim red.
- Classic and Modern lamps (Cube, Tower, Cylinder, Home) — rest a finger on the top sensor pad and hold it for about 3–5 minutes. The lamp cycles through several colours before settling on dim red.
- Infinity and Infinity Voice lamps — insert a pin into the reset pinhole underneath the lamp. It shows a rainbow, then turns dim red.
- Once the lamp is dim red, open the LuvLink app and run through setup again, choosing your new Wi-Fi network this time.
- When you reach the group step, choose Connect to an existing Group and enter your existing GroupID. Your group is not lost — you are simply rejoining it.
Find your GroupID before you start
Write your GroupID down first, so you are not hunting for it mid-setup. You can see it in the LuvLink app under your lamp's settings, in the GroupID section of Device Information. Anyone else in your group can read theirs from the same place.
If the lamp will not go into setup mode
- Unplug the lamp.
- Turn your router's Wi-Fi off for 10 seconds, then restart the router.
- Plug the lamp back in.
It should turn blue and then dim red, which means it is in Wi-Fi setup mode.
A note on the network itself
Friendship Lamps join 2.4GHz networks. Many routers broadcast both 2.4GHz and 5GHz under the same name — if your lamp cannot see or join the network, that is the first thing worth checking with your provider.
