My Lamp Does Not Respond When I Touch It
Your lamp is powered and connected, but touching it does nothing — no colour change, and nothing sent to your group. Work through these in order, because the most common causes are not faults.
Is the lamp actually online?
A lamp that has lost Wi-Fi cannot send anything. If it is glowing dim red, it is in setup mode and needs to be reconnected — see our article on going back to setup mode. If it is a solid colour and simply not responding, carry on below.
Check the GroupID first
If the lamp responds to your touch locally but nobody in your group sees it — or you see nothing when they touch theirs — the GroupID is the first thing to check, not the sensor. You can view and correct it in the LuvLink app under your lamp's settings, in the GroupID section of Device Information. No reset is needed to change it.
How the sensor expects to be touched
- Rest your finger flat on the top sensor pad rather than tapping with a fingertip or a nail.
- To change colour, hold your finger on the pad, release when you reach a colour you like, then tap to send it.
- The sensor reads skin contact, so gloves and some phone-holder attachments will stop it working.
Power cycle it
Unplug the lamp, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in. Give it a minute to reconnect before testing again.
If it still does not respond
Please contact us with:
- Your lamp's MAC ID from the label on the base
- Your LuvLink account email address
- Whether the lamp responds to touch at all — even changing colour locally without sending
That last point separates a sensor that has stopped reading from a lamp that reads touch but cannot send, and they are different problems with different fixes.
