What Is a GroupID and How Can I Enter It?
A GroupID is the code that links your Friendship Lamps together — lamps that share the same GroupID can send and receive colours with each other. This article explains what a GroupID is, how to create one, how to join someone else's group, and how to connect a lamp to a second group.
What is a GroupID?
A GroupID is a code the LuvLink app generates when you first set up your Friendship Lamp and start a new group. It must be all lowercase, no spaces, and the only special character allowed is an underscore.
Creating a new GroupID
- Download the LuvLink app on iOS or Android.
- Follow the Friendship Lamps Setup Guide.
- Tap Create a new group in the app — a GroupID is generated automatically.
Whoever creates the group becomes the group admin and must approve new member requests. You'll get these requests by email and as in-app notifications.

Connecting to an existing group
- Download the LuvLink app.
- Tap + Add Device on your dashboard.
- Select Connect to an existing group.
- Enter the GroupID carefully.
- Configure your Wi-Fi credentials and save.
Once connected, the lamp displays yellow while it waits for the admin to approve it.

Connecting to a second group
You can also link a lamp to a second group:
- Tap the cog wheel icon in the app settings.
- Open GroupID under Device Information.
- Under Second GroupID, select either Create a new group or Connect to an existing group.
