What Is the MAC ID and How Can I Find It?
The MAC ID is a unique number tied to your LuvLink Friendship Lamp, and you'll need it during setup. It's usually printed on a sticker on the base of the lamp — but if that sticker is gone, or you're connecting to a college or public Wi-Fi network, you can still find it by putting your lamp into setup mode.
What is a MAC ID?
The MAC ID comes from the Wi-Fi network name your lamp broadcasts before it's fully connected — something like Friendlamp_XXXX. You'll see this name appear in your phone or device's list of available Wi-Fi networks when the lamp is in dim red setup mode.
Every lamp broadcasts a different number, so no two lamps will ever share the same one.
How to find your MAC ID
Option 1 — Check the sticker
Turn your lamp over and look at the base. The MAC ID is printed on the sticker there.
Option 2 — Use setup mode
If the sticker has been removed, you can get the number this way:
- Press and hold the top sensor for 3–5 minutes, or until the lamp turns dim red. This puts it into setup mode.
- On your phone or device, open your list of available Wi-Fi networks.
- Look for a network named
FriendlampXXXX. The digits afterFriendlampare the number you need. - Send us that number via our contact form and we'll verify your MAC ID from there.
What's next?
Once you have your MAC ID sorted, you can get back to setting up your lamp using the LuvLink App Setup Guide.
